The National Collaborating Centre for Indigenous Health (NCCIH) is hosting a webinar on May 6. The topic is: Visioning the future: First Nations, Inuit, and Métis population and public health series – governance and data.

The webinar will focus on the importance of Indigenous health and well-being. The presenters will illustrate how Indigenous people’s ownership and control over their past, present, and future are important elements to their collective well-being. The webinar will also focus on the importance of a paradigm shift away from predominant population health data about Indigenous peoples.

This webinar will examine how health equity can be created for Indigenous people in the areas of mental and physical health, while highlighting the biases and inequities inherent in current health systems.

Finally, participants will learn about opportunities and benefits for Indigenous people to self-create and self-govern disaggregated data that can support achieving health equity.

The webinar takes place on May 6, 2022, from 10 am – 11:30 am PST and will be available as a recorded video following the session.
